Beginning Golfers Should Avoid High Performance Balls
It takes a long time for golfers to develop the skills they need to play well. How long it takes depends on how often you play and the quality of your instructor. To some degree, your natural ability, strength and talent may also influence how quickly you learn to play. One thing that will definitely have an impact on your developing skills is the equipment you use to play, and this includes the Golfbälle you use.
One of the biggest mistakes a beginner golfer can make is purchasing high performance golf balls, or top of the line Titleist or other name brand balls. Spending a fortune on high performance golf balls when you’re learning to golf is a mistake for two reasons.
First, beginners lose a ton of balls while learning to play, and it doesn’t matter whether they are brand new Maxfli balls or Lakeballs when they are lost in the woods or a water hazard. Why spend a fortune on golf balls you know you are going to lose?
Second, high performance, three-piece golf balls are designed for advanced golfers, not beginners. They are constructed differently than standard, two-piece balls, and they can actually impede your play by amplifying your mistakes.
Once you begin to develop some accuracy in your game, you may want to think about what make and brand of golf balls you are using. Even then, you still won’t be ready for high performance balls, but perhaps it will be time to invest in new, standard balls instead of recycled balls you purchase in bulk when just getting started.
